Golf and Golfing

Below, you'll find extensive information on leading golf practice articles and products to help you on your way to success.

The old saying that "practice makes perfect" may be more true with the sport of than any other activity. However, if you're like most people, your day is probably taken up with job and home responsibilities. Playing an actual round of golf-instead of practicing-seems like a much better way to spend what little free time you do have. practice drills help you get the most out of your practice time. By focusing on specific parts of your game and concentrating your practice, you'll be able to accomplish more in your practice sessions and be the envy of your fellow players once you get onto the course.

When you're faced with different types of shots during play on the course, you really only get one chance. practice drills make it possible for you to set up your problem shots over and over again. Not only will you be able to develop things like precision and distance control, you will gain self-assurance. Increased self-assurance could have a more significant impact on your score than any swing tip or new putting technique.

Here's a practice drill that can really help your putting. Take 20 balls and arrange them in a plus sign or cross with the hole in the middle. This will give you four lines of five balls each. Now, putt each ball into the cup. It's your choice-you can clear a whole line at a time or putt in the four nearest balls, the four second nearest and so on. To increase the pressure and make this practice drill more successful, force yourself to start over from the beginning any time you fail to sink a putt. Can you imagine the tension this adds to the drill, especially after you've gotten 13 or 14 straight? This drill will help you learn the feel of a successful putt and will also improve your distance control.

Many golfers struggle with maintaining a triangle shape with their shoulders and arms when they putt. Try this practice drill to improve your putting form. Take one of your other clubs and place it under your arms with the shaft across your chest. Now putt the ball while keeping the shaft in place. Developing a precise and consistent putting stroke will be much easier if you incorporate this practice drill into your regular routine.

Putting drills will help your score a lot, but how about getting to the green in the first place? Practice drills can improve your swing too. Correct body rotation is an important element of the swing. This practice drill trains you in the correct body rotation. Grab one of your clubs and hold it behind your head with the shaft resting on your shoulders. Position yourself as if you're about to tee off. Make sure to adopt the right posture. Now, rotate your upper body back until the shaft of the club (the one behind your head) is pointing at the ground. Then, finish the drill by rotating at the waist. Imagine that you are swinging through the ball. As you go through your practice routine, stop and do this drill a few times every ten shots or so. Have you heard of physical memory? This is teaching your muscles to remember what the right rotation feels like.

The fastest way to lower your score is to develop a practice routine using a full range of practice drills. Smart practice like this will help you get the most out of whatever practice time you do have.
